When The Refrigerator Stops Cooling

Usually before any holidays, most often  the refrigerator works, but does not cool. Calls to the repair shop and friends asking for help in solving this problem cannot be avoided, especially  during the holiday season and  when the refrigerator is stuffed with food. The Internet comes to rescue with answers, why it  has stopped cooling and what to do with self-elimination of minor breakages.

5 Minor malfunctions DIY`

The “Defrost” button
Check the activation of the “Defrost” button. In some models it is inside and it can be accidentally turned on by loading the products with a refrigerator. Check if the unit has started to cool afterwards.

Rubber compressor
The next small reason why the refrigerator has stopped cooling is the unsuitable rubber compressor on the door. It probably rubbed or cracked and it does not keep the cold. It is necessary to check why it does not fit well to the door, you should examine carefully from all sides. If it is necessary, a replacement is required.

Temperature sensor
The temperature sensor  has stopped working. For some reason, it does not supply the correct information to the processor. Replace the temperature sensor. Check how the unit started to cool.
Be sure to check the position of the cold regulator, it should be at the maximum.

Engine overheating
If the light is on, but the refrigerator cools badly, touch the engine with your hand. If the motor is hot – it is quite possible, the thermal protection has tripped and the engine is off. Unplug it from the network, wait a while until the motor has cooled down completely and try again. If it worked, the light is on and it’s cooling, it means that the air access to the engine has been blocked. Move away from the wall and nearby furniture to improve the ventilation of the side and rear walls.

Faulty thermostat
Check the thermostat with the refrigerator turned on. First, using a tester, make sure that there is voltage on the motor. If it is not, then it is possible that it is the thermostat that does not supply voltage. You need to get it and change it to a new one. After that, you need to check how the unit cools.
